Trivia #1

Starting out with my fav, Tiberus:
  • He's blond.
  • He's the second character to appear in the most time periods of the Heroes Within Timeline (the first being the Necrolord)
  • His sword can be considered the Heroes Within average sword: approximately 50% of all existent swords are shorter than it (and the other 50% are longer)
  • He's the only blond character in Heroes Within.
  • He has had the most redesigns (this is the designer speakin-- er, writing) concerning mood, armor, weapon, etc.
  • He is arguably one of the strongest normal-weight characters in Heroes Within, besides The Curse, Hadron, Blackout, Mark Seraph, and the Necrolord.
Cassady/Necrolord:
  • He was never intended to be a possessed Cassady. He was initially only an excuse for a villain in Heroes Within until the story of Brotherhood unraveled and his backstory as the shadow Necros came out.
  • The Necrolord is the only normal-weight character that sports gray hair.
  • Cassady's persona and appearance is almost entirely inspired from Prince Marth from the Fire Emblem games for GBA and NDS.
  • Originally his cape was going to flare out from his waist (much like Saphron's) but the cape was strapped onto his shoulders to match a more regal appearance.
The Curse:
  • He is my first hero.
  • His creation is possibly a miracle since I took no inspiration from anywhere.
  • He is the only character in Heroes Within to sport more than one outfit.
  • His first story was titled "The Curse Begins", an allusion to the similarly titled movie "Batman Begins".
  • He has the lightest armor of all characters in Heroes Within, merely a padded orange shirt (and his titanium-fiber glove)
  • He is one of the modern Generals in Heroes Within: Invasion.
The Wrath:
  • He was originally going to be The Curse gone bad, and his original name was The Bad Curse.
  • He can be easily confused with Blacksheath because of their similar white plastic armor.
  • His stone hand is on the right, whereas The Curse's is on the left.
  • A DNA factor gone wrong caused his hair to go completely white (not old people white, but snowy white)
Berto Dodgers:
  • Is the second character ever invented by me.
  • Was originally intended to be The Curse's sidekick, but after fixing The Curse's personality as a lone wolf, he got his own lair, uniform, and weaponry.
  • His other job as a racer was implemented years after I dumped the idea of a retired scientist to spice up Dodgers's characteristics and bring him back to the ranks.
  • His first name is a fragment of my own name. His last name, however, comes from the Warner Bros famous Duck Dodgers.
Blackout:
  • His backstory is similar to the Batman's, in the way that he was orphaned at an early age, and to secure justice he became a crime fighter for his city.
  • He is the only modern character in Heroes Within to wear realistic protective gear (a Kevlar bulletproof jacket)
  • He originally had a gun that fired rubber pellets that stunned the victim, but the idea was dropped since Blackout relies mainly on hand-to-hand combat.
  • He is the only hero in Heroes Within to sport comic-hero-style briefs on top of his uniform.

Legion

Among the few people who praised Dracula during his reign there were magicians who sought to serve him in his castle. Among those magicians, there was a man who planned to overthrow the Dark Lord and replace him as the new Dark Lord. His name was Leon Exodus Grutas.

When Leon figured out that Logan was going to do the job for him, he just tried to gain more power within the castle for the time of their confrontation. However, when Logan found the crystallized Thousand Soul (an orb containing the powerful prayers of a vast but long-dead army) Leon appeared and seized the treasure for himself, only to discover it was a trap devised by Dracula for Logan.

The thousand souls broke free from the crystal container and engulfed Leon, turning him into a demon possessing and being possessed by one-thousand and one souls. He declared himself a servant of the Dark Lord.
I am Legion. I am many... and we are one...
Legion can dissipate into a cloud of souls to avoid physical damage, even from a weapon as saint as the Ghoulslayer. His domain of many souls combined with his old magical powers enable him to use the abilities of each of the thousand dead warriors, including an elongated grasp, an oversized sword, a sudden barrage of horses, an arrow rain, and other attacks common in war.

Like the Necrolord, Legion can also steal his opponent's life force to become stronger.

Marcus Drauffganger Seraph

During the rule of Dracula, the Seraph family (that is, the remains of the Seraph family) lived in a state of disorder. Their only way to live peacefully was to succumb to the Dark Lord, but Patrick Renvall Seraph wasn't going to kneel to a tyrant, nor was his son, Marcus Drauffganger Seraph.

So, in order to end this nonsense, Mark traveled to the evil lord's domain, only to encounter another person that shares the same grudge: Logan Anderson.

Mark Seraph is an adept weapon wielder, holding any kind of melee weapon (he hates guns) His two favorite weapons are the Seraph Hatchet and the Valmanway Sword.

Belmont Magnums

The twin Belmont Magnums are two guns equipped with stake-shaped bullets that encase holy water, garlic, and a small but effective wooden crucifix, all to promote its effectiveness in unholy creatures.

It's name comes from the Belmont family line, a family tree of Vampire Hunters destined to destroy Dracula during his rise from the dead. Simon, the first Belmont to become a Vampire Hunter, merely used these as a last resort, for his Vampire Killer more than did the job for him. But it still was and still is an effective weapon against vampire ghouls, lycans, lich people, and other undead creatures.

Ghoulslayer

Logan's Ghoulslayer is an elongated blade forged with sterling silver and the essence of garlic, cooled down in holy water to give it the holy ability to hurt and kill the evil creatures roaming around the world. At first it served merely as a collectible, adorning the living room of a vampire house in 762. It was passed down from the Anderson vampire family, and when Seamus Anderson owned it during Logan's birth, his death penalty left the Ghoulslayer buried in the ashes of his house.

Logan found it fifteen years later when his grandfather, Tiberus, led him to see his father's fate. Since then, Logan has taken his duty less like a game and more like a responsibility and a mission, to destroy the vampire clans.

Logan Anderson

The year is 785. The events set up at Brotherhood are now history, and the new trouble rises as, within the chaos that bound the ruins of Cadelia, one man rose to high power. One tyrannical leader with enough power to rouse fear upon his people... Count Vlad Tepes of Wallachia: Count Dracula

The vampire kingdom has then flourished, for ten years. During that time, one vampire knight, Seamus Anderson, fell in love. With a human girl called Angela Fabius (Yep, Tiberus had kids)

And so young Logan Anderson was born, half-human half-vampire; half-holy, half-tainted. Seamus's penalty for mating with humans as well as Angela's unfortunate fate during childbirth left Logan orphaned for fifteen years. Then he found Tiberus, his grandfather, who showed him his legacy, his true identity, and his mission:

To fully recover his true vampire powers, he must drink the blood of vampires.

And the fall of the Vampire Kingdom began, with Logan taking the life (and blood) away from the most vicious vampires and ghouls with his Ghoulslayer and his Belmont guns. Tiberus, war-hardened with the events in the Cadelian Wars and the Merow False Hand Crisis, aided Logan with his veteran captain skills in the sword as well as a new array of weapons, ranging from the Captain's Shotgun to the Feather Dagger.

But when Adrian Farenheights Tepes (Alucard, Dracula's 20 year old son) steps in to stop Logan's onslaught to start his own, it is up to Logan to avoid Alucard's rage and defeat Dracula, once and for all.

The Heroes Within Timeline

To avoid any historical confusion anywhere 'within' the blog, I have decided to practically write a summary of the Heroes Within future series of books that tell what has happened in Heroville during the past 1300 years.

8th Century (as depicted in Heroes Within: Brotherhood Parts I and II)
The Brotherhood (Tiberus, Cassady, and Saphron) tries to end an endless struggle where they need to balance their lack of troops with the oncoming hordes of Raiders, but as the heat of an endless war grows, Aric arrives to make life hell for our three knights:
The battle against the Raiders takes a turn for the worst when Aric's kingdom interferes and decides to attack anything on its path.
Heroes Within: Brotherhood Part I

The situation abruptly gets even harder as yet another force emerges and seemingly takes over the Northlands by taking over Cassady. When this unknown entity identified as the Necrolord loses in single combat against a vengeful Saphron, he has no other choice but to escape, hurting his arm in the process.

A year later, we find the two Cadelians trying to reveal the truth behind Saphron's fire powers. This takes them to another country called Merow where castles are not wide but tall, and villages exist. But when people start suspecting Tiberus as the Necrolord's hiding identity, Saphron takes it into himself to again find the Dark King and vanish him from the world.

When the Necrolord finally gets the guts to appear, he shows that his hand (the one he hurt severely during Saphron's revenge) had been fixed using dark power voided within flexible glass. When he realizes that the two heroes are not alone, but have a family backup, he finally disappears, never to bee seen again... until:

17th Century (as depicted in Heroes Within: Renegade)
King Rawtern and his children, Rawthorn and Miriam, rule over Hirovilas, formerly Cadelia. When an ambassador, by the name Eltheon, from the kingdom of Pildin arrives, they have no idea who they are meddling with, for Lord Eltheon had previously been possessed by the Necrolord, who had his own plans.

In no time, Rawtern is assassinated, Rawthorn and Miriam are kicked out of Hirovilas, and Necro-Eltheon takes over as King. Prince and princess escape to the Martis Forest, where a group of native gypsies welcomes them as a part of their tribe. During their time in the forest, Rawthorn encounters childhood friend Rhodas among the war-like natives, and he sets on a plan to re-enter Hirovilas, overthrow Eltheon, and claim his throne.

Still nobody knows of the truth behind Necro-Eltheon. But that changes when Rawthorn begins to have visions of a golden warrior advising him not to take Eltheon lightly, because there is more power within him than what man can understand. When Rawthorn discovers the truth, he becomes more cautious and redesigns his battle plan.

Later on, a call of war arises as the natives try to distract Eltheon's powerful army. Rawthorn enters the throne room and confronts Eltheon, but when Eltheon proves himself a corrupt legionaire, the Necrolord realizes this body is out of his control, and leaves Eltheon to confront Rawthorn himself.

To liken the odds of battle, the golden warrior appears before the final battle, revealing himself to be the very spirit of Tiberus. Two swordfights ensue, Rawthorn vs. Eltheon, and Tiberus vs. the Necrolord. When Rawthorn kills Eltheon, the Necrolord suddenly has a change of heart and disappears again.

21st Century (as depicted in Heroes Within: Retribution and Heroes Within: Invasion)
Heroville becomes a thriving city for crime, and it's up to the heroes living in and out of there to cleanse the city. But the heroes themselves are in a strong quarrel against each other. And it's Berto (AKA Me) who has to unite them into the Alliance of Recurring Superheroes, Old and New (ARSON) to form a barrier against all evil.

Their capacity is tested when the archenemies of each hero return, united and led by the Necrolord into a reborn brotherhood, the Brotherhood of Recurring Atrocious Villain Organizations (BRAVO) and yet another war is launched. When Berto realizes that the Dark King yields to nothing but 'The Light of Good', he has no choice but to create yet another hero, one pure of heart and soul. Then Aether was born.

Aether single-handedly defeats the Necrolord in combat, and imprisons him in another dimension, where he is kept guarded by Aether himself.

About a few months later, Greg reports a strange sight on his neighborhood: a hole about an inch wide everywhere, floating in the middle of the street. When special forces are sent to investigate, one soldier realizes it's not a hole, but a purple light field emitted by a floating diamond.

When this obviously greedy soldier tries to take the gemstone as his own, he accidentally cuts his finger, but when he tries a second lunge, his hand transforms into a Hulk-esque purple hand, and then his own body morphs into a strange, alien hominid that looks like a gorilla with the head of an alligator.

The diamond disappears, and in its place a dimensional hole opens and gets larger by the second, yielding troops of alien infantry that start attacking Earth. Greg and a few survivors to the attack escape to the ARSON HQ, where Berto was discussing about a similar diamond found in Tech Square and in Farewell Desert. When Berto learns about the invasion, it's too late: battalions of aliens stream out of four dimensional holes in the world: one in the Desert, one in the City, one in the Town, and one in the Forest.

To be continued... is what I would say, 'cause that's where I left off.

Facts:
  • I've been holding on to these stories for 4 years.
  • The first character I have ever created, the Curse, is 7 years old.
  • The names of the Alliance and the Brotherhood are so crappy that I think the previous two names look better.
  • Vlatmoor Epikha was just an excuse to give the characters a home. A month later, Heroville was born.
  • All characters started out as childish sketches of "cool" people.
  • All the heroes and villains are physically me, but with their respective alterations.
  • My favorite part of sketching these characters is the way I draw their hair.
  • That said, I have changed their hairstyles four times, the first being a "Spike" style, followed by an "Emo" style, succeeded by an "Average" style, and finally I ended up with an enhanced version of the first style.
  • This may be the longest post I have ever written on any blog I manage.
  • My dad probably is looking at this and saying, WOW, my son has quite an imagination. If that's the case, thanks, Dad, you encouraged me to write these ideas down, and you helped me discover that I can do that through blogging. I love you.

Adalberto Hernandez Rivera

Rawthorn

Put it this way:

It's been centuries since the Northlands became just a legend, but Hero-ville still doesn't exist. In fact, we're located at a point in time when our heroes' land was known as Hirovilas.

During these hard times, Hirovilas was ruled by the good king Rawtern, whose son, Rawthorn, is the subject of our blog post. He has a sister named Miriam, and he has sworn to protect her at all costs. Rawthorn himself is small, but as brave as he is strong and sturdy. One blow from his fist takes out a heavyweight bully (which was necessary during Hero-ville's Age of Darkness) and his stout soul kept him going, sometimes pushing him into a ravenous rampage.

This story dates back to the XIX century in the timeline of Hero-ville.
As Rawthorn was throwing coins into the wishing well in the village (present-day Tech Square) word reaches his ears that King Rawtern suddenly died. In a desperate but vain attempt to figure out the cause of his father's mysterious death, Rawthorn suddenly encounters a foreigner, a Pildin corrupt named Eltheon, sitting on the throne, wearing Rawtern's crown on his head and Rawtern's blood on his hands.

Rawthorn is suddenly banished from Hirovilas and thrown into the developing Martis Forest, where an elf, by the name Rhodas, decides to help him restore his place as heir to the throne. It is during Rawthorn's return that he suddenly has strange dreams, dreams of a warrior in shiny armor teaching Rawthorn how to stand firm against everything.

(This golden warrior is an incarnation of Tiberus Fabius, LOL)

With support from his forest friend, aid from his beloved sister, and advice from his spirit companion, Rawthorn must master his own fears, draw his slender sword, and strike down Eltheon and his minions.

All while having to resist his absolute love for Millie, Eltheon's daughter.

Gerard Blonski

2454. Man flew away from Earth shortly after the discovery of a way to extract the energy from the nuclear fusion that makes stars shine. The Sun we know is no longer a sun; it's a giant mass of hardened rock and gas. Earth is a solid ball of ice, Jupiter is 20 times as large as it was, Saturn lost its rings and cracked in half.

The people of the Earth, led by a tyrant governor named Jules Patrick, have fled to the open space, sapping the stars from their energy. They became known as the Government.

In short, man has taken the crap out of all the stars in the galaxy. All except one star named Ultima Centauri. A baby star in the midst of the Eagle Nebula, open to the greedy hands of the Governor.

But then Project Star appeared. Project Star was a society of philosophers, scientists, but most of all, defenders of the stars. They were against the Government, and they even waged war with the Government, in the called Stellar Battles. Although they were reserved for great wars, everyday they risked their lives to protect Ultima Centauri.

One such protector was Commander Gerard Blonski.

Blonski was no weakling scientist. The Stellar Battles had hardened his will and body in a way that his brutality against the Government's army knows no boundaries.

Berto Dodgers (II)

I've decided to get a little more into one of our first superheroes in this blog. As I have said before, Berto Dodgers is a retired but not unemployed scientist that works on the safety of Hero-ville. He usually wears a black uniform covered in a brown cloak, and we can't forget the goggles he inherited from his father.

BUT
Berto Dodgers has been known to assist racing tournaments, championships, and, recently, a grand prix. His vehicle, the Soaring Dodge, has best acceleration, but rudders are a little outdated, making twisted raceways his main weakness. Its huge turbines account for a speed of 1.3 kilometers per second (nearly half of Mach 10 speed)

Dodgers plans to either buy or design resistant turbines that can go at Mach 10 or faster. But in the meantime, his first worry is the battery power on his motor. A single-cell battery (105 V) heats up fast, and with no coolant during a race, this is quite a risk for any racer in Hero-ville. He has been saving for a dual-cell battery replacement (210 V) but his wish is the battery pack (1050 V) for best endurance and good handling.

Overall, the Soaring Dodge could be better, but right no it's OK. It actually made it through the Hero-ville Main Championship. Dodgers has enlisted into the new Vlatmoor Epikha Tournament for Amateurs (V.E.T.A. <= LOL the things I come up with) and is now finishing on the vehicle's final repairs...

Brotherhood Preview

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Heroes Within is not going to be published or anything because of countless copyright infringements (I blindly included Batman, Star Wars, and Narnia. What a mess!!!) But still, I wrote another story for you, based on Herovilas' "Heroes of Old" (Aric, Saffron, Cassady/Necrolord, and Tiberus)

Here's a preview of what I have so far:

3.2.10

The Northlands

The Northlands was Vlatmoor Epikha's former name. It is in the Northlands that Cassady, Saffron, and Tiberus are located.

During that time, all three of them are friends and share their battles. They celebrate together, host games at the fair, and Cassady even puts up special dinners with the other two. Cadelia, the castle, stretches from the Northlands all the way to the limits of The Raiders. The kingdom of Cadelia was the most prone to attacks due to lack of resources and men-at-arms.
